These pump paint pens are made of sturdy aluminum barrels. They are light weight, resistive to almost all fluids (I have used them with paint and solvents of various types, indelible marker ink, nail polish remover, isopropyl alcohol etc).
The pens I sell are made from the latest molds for the barrels and caps. The fit of the neck to the barrel and the valve in the barrel is tight and leak proof. These paints work with acrylic, alcohol based, latex and other types of paint.
Remember, latex and acrylic will need dilution to flow well in any paint pen. These special nibs will give great results with acrylic, latex and other "thick" paints.
The color of the cap and neck will be either red or white; the barrel will be either white or cream color. I change vendors often on these to get you the best price so the colors of the plastic parts may vary, sometimes white, sometimes red, sometimes clear.
The depression of the nib presses down on a spring loaded valve in the marker, allowing fluid to flow into the nib. Releasing the nib allows the valve to shut and stop the flow of fluid.
Many auto body and paint shops have used these to give to their customers after a paint job. It is very easy to fill the markers with the remainder of the paint in the can after the job is done. That way the customer has the exact match for his car should he need to touch up scratches, etc.
They are also ideal for furniture touch up stains and kitchen cabinet touch up paint or stains.
Acrylic paints work really well in these paint pens. It is VERY important to properly dilute the paint properly to get the best flow of colors through the paint pen. Learn how to dilute acrylic paints here.
You need to find the right amount of thinner for the best compromise between smooth flow through the tip and making sure the paint does not slobber on the work.
It is easy to accomplish with a bit of experimentation.
These tricks and tips work with any other type of paint you want to use. Get the nicest work with properly thinned paint.
